Community Outreach

The LHPOST6 provides a unique educational infrastructure for training the next generation of researchers, educators, and practitioners who will be future leaders in worldwide natural-disaster prevention efforts.

Our educational programs are designed to inspire K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students, including those from underrepresented and underprivileged groups, that will contribute to sustainable and natural disaster-resilient communities.

We also strive to bring the earthquake engineering community together by providing researchers with a state-of-the-art facility capable of performing large-scale testing with realistic seismic loading, and encouraging industry participation to ensure the research is relevant to practice. Through our outreach efforts, experiments performed at the LHPOST6 will also educate the public about the urgency of the nation’s efforts to develop effective technologies and policies to prevent these natural events from becoming societal disasters.

We accomplish this through training and academia-industry workshops, facility tours and webinars to disseminate the critical impact of the research conducted at the LHPOST6.
